What is a ComPacT NSX circuit breaker?

This small moulded case perfectly combines functionality and innovation. The size has been reduced by 40% compared to the Compact NS range, well-known among professionals for nearly 20 years.

This circuit breaker includes an integrated measurement unit to gather a wide range of data: measurement, status, and operational assistance. All this information is available on the circuit breaker itself. 

To access information remotely, an auxiliary module called a breaker status communication module (BSCM) must be installed inside the circuit breaker. Use the NSX cable to send all the information back via the Modbus interface.

ComPacT NSX circuit breakers, 2 sizes, 2 types of mounting, 5 models

The ComPacT range of circuit breakers can be used in many installations, including commercial buildings, photovoltaic farms, the oil and gas industry, critical power supplies, machinery, and more. There are two different circuit-breaker sizes:

  • ComPacT NSX from 100 to 250 A up to 690 V
  • ComPacT NSX from 400 to 630 A up to 690 V

The range is available with two mounting options, fixed or withdrawable (draw-out), depending on installation needs and budget. Maintenance is the key factor in opting for the draw-out circuit breaker, enabling fast restart after intervention and ensuring uninterrupted operation in specific sectors.

There are 5 models in the ComPacT NSX circuit-breaker range: NSX100, NSX160, NSX250, NSX400 and NSX630, all of which are available in a range of sizes. 

ComPacT NSX circuit breakers, 9 different breaking capacities

Nine performance levels to suit all commercial and industrial applications. From type B with a breaking capacity of 25 kA to type L with an Icu of 150 kA at 415 V AC, this range is optimised to reduce the impacts of short circuits on electrical installations.

  • up to 250 A and 415 V: 25, 36, 50, 70, 100, 150 kA 
  • up to 630 A and 415 V: 36, 50, 70, 100, 150 kA
  • from 250 A and 690 V: 45, 75 and 100 kA

ComPacT NSX circuit-breakers, 3 types of interchangeable trip units

The range includes 3 types of trip units, all of which can be easily swapped without changing the enclosure.

  • MA, magnetic-only trip with an adjustable threshold (NSX 100 to 250)
  • TM, a thermal-magnetic trip unit mainly used for distribution and generators (NSX100 to 250)
  • Micrologic, electronic trip unit integrating measurement and communication

ComPacT NSX and ComPacT NSXm circuit-breakers, which one to choose?

Like the ComPacT NSX circuit-breaker, the ComPacT NSXm circuit-breaker is part of the PacT Series. It is the smallest circuit breaker in this range. Only one size is available, from 16 to 160 A, with slightly fewer options than its big brother:

  • Thermal-magnetic release only
  • Available in 3 or 4 poles only
  • Only the fixed version is available - no draw-out option

ComPact NSXm circuit breakers are primarily utilised in medium-sized low-voltage installations in commercial and industrial sectors and are often housed in distribution board enclosures.

A wide range of accessories is available to make it easier to fit, connect and operate ComPacT NSX circuit breakers: circuit breaker board, rotary handle, source changeover switch, interlock, connection accessories, remote control, Vigi add-on module, etc.

Compact NSX < 630A Features

Compact NSX100 to 630 offers high performance and a wide choice of interchangeable trip units for protection of the main applications. The electronic variants offer precise protection and a broad range of settings, along with the ability to integrate measurement and communication functions. When paired with a dedicated FDM, they provide functions similar to those of a power meter and assist with operations. 

  • 3 or 4-pole
  • Fixed or plug-in
  • Magnetic, thermal-magnetic and electronic trip units
  • FDM121 single-product or FDM128 multi-product panel display
  • Modbus RS485 or Ethernet interface module
